Have you ever heard the expression, "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear"? I think I used to relate to this saying in a very direct way, and kept looking for a teacher to show up in person form. Last week though, I had a different experience with this saying. My mindfulness practice has helped me to be more patient with life and let life "speak" to me in new ways. One of the main teachings is to accept life on its terms instead of fighting with it so much, or spending a lot of time and energy wanting, wishing, DEMANDING that it be different. Instead, we cultivate a warm curiosity about life and the countless energies in it and in us. So anyway, I saw something a bit different. The details really don't matter, my point is that I saw something new in life, and I realized that life itself really is the teacher and it is only when I am ready to experience what seems like the same-old, same-old in a new way am I, as the student, ready to see and experience it.
